He really likes pasta in white sauce. It’s his favorite dish that I make. But I stayed at the office later than I’d planned and didn’t get to the supermarket until after 7 p.m. And I needed to go by and help my mother-in-law with her meds. (She’s a very sharp 95, but all those pills with that tiny little print get to be a bit much.) And by the time I got home Simeon had already left with friends to watch a basketball game at a nearby high school and I was exhausted. The groceries are still sitting on the kitchen counter. I ate take-out chicken. I had planned to cook dinner with my son and to talk about what was happening in school. We were going to make a plan for the rest of the semester. It seemed like a great plan, but it didn’t happen. The whole week has been like that. My little brother Rod and his girlfriend came to town, I worked late several nights. My son had basketball, drama and dance practice. We passed each other in the night. I wish it were as easy as it is on TV.
Hey Natalie – i discovered this blog today while i was going through the 239 unread emails on Bentes’ computer, and i swear i was just reading about me, Martin and Bente. It is a shame that sometimes we get so busy taking care of everything that we have to do in the day and we dont get the chance to slow down and spend “quality time” with our sons, much less eat healthy. Martin has learned to keep a large supply of Hot Pockets in the freezer as emergency food for those days when I am really strung out….
Hi there Miss Natalie! Lauren here. I hope you’re doing well. I just got your last message. That’s great that you’re going to buy my book. I hope you enjoy it! I had a question for you, I hope that’s okay. You mentioned you give away GGI DVD’s to anyone who buys anything on your site. Do you know if one of those DVD’s has the episode “Home Alone with Grandma” on it or any season 4 episodes on them? If not, do you have a list I could read through to see which episodes are on the DVDs? I’m just curious.
The reason is, I’ve been meaning to catch “Home Alone with Grandma” but I keep missing it when it’s on Noggin. I love that episode a lot because of the music and the storyline.
I hope your week goes well and you get some well deserved time with your family.
I hope to hear from you soon, but take your time
Lauren
Hey Natalie,
You cook?? 🙂 I thought we had that in common! They grow up so fast and we used to be so important. I am with you in the phase to a point. I don’t have all the outside things going on that you do, but the children growing up and becoming their own persons, yep…….it’s hard.
Love,
Pam
Well Pam,
I suppose it’s more accurate to say that I ofen intend to cook… It’s a rare thing! A co-worker was telling me the other day that she heard her son saying to friends, “Guess what my Mom did last night — she made fried chicken! And she didn’t even have all that stuff they have at KFC!” He was amazed. It was like a miracle! Sim is in a play tonight so he’s eating at school with the cast. “Whew!” Sara is coming home for the weekend. She may expect food. We’ll see what happens…
Love,
Natalie
